Published in 2011, the paper Restoration, biogeochemistry and ecological services of wetlands sets the scene for a special issue of the journal Hydrobiologia on these important and inter-related issues. The journal presents a compendium of papers presented at the 4th Annual Meeting of the European Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists held in Erkner, near Berlin, in 2009.
